Is one of Spain’s most important historical tungsten and tin deposits, with relevance during World War II, when it was considered one of the largest tungsten operations in Europe. It is a deposit associated with the Varilongo granite massif, with vein‑type mineralization exploited mainly through underground mining, whose activity ceased in the 1980s and whose recent attempts at reactivation have been constrained by administrative and environmental factors, despite its strategic interest as a European source of tungsten.
