Cookie Policy
What are cookies and why do we use them on our website?
A cookie is a file that is downloaded onto the user’s device when accessing certain websites, in order to store and retrieve information about the browsing activity carried out from that device.
Cookies allow websites to, among other things, store and retrieve information about the user’s decisions and browsing habits. At Mining Sense Global we use them to personalise the experience within our websites, identify and remember registered users, and facilitate navigation.
It is important to note that the use of cookies does not provide personal data about the user, who remains anonymous to Mining Sense Global.
The user can configure their browser to not accept cookies, in which case the personalised experience will not be applied, although they will still be able to access the content of our websites normally.
On the Wikipedia page you can find more information about what cookies are and how they work.
What types of cookies does this website use?
Cookies, depending on their persistence, can be divided into session cookies or permanent cookies. The former expire when the user closes the browser. The latter expire depending on when the purpose they serve has been fulfilled.
Additionally, depending on their purpose, cookies can be classified as follows:
Performance cookies: this type of cookie remembers your preferences for the tools found within the services, so you do not have to reconfigure the service every time you visit. Examples of this type include:
- Volume settings for video or audio players.
- Video streaming speeds compatible with your browser.
Geolocation cookies: these cookies are used to determine which country you are in when you request a website or service. This cookie is completely anonymous and is only used to help tailor content to your location.
Registration cookies: registration cookies are generated once the user has registered or subsequently opened a session, and are used to identify them across websites and services for the following purposes:
- To keep the user identified so that, if they close a service or website, the browser or computer, and at another time or on another day they return to that service or website, they will still be identified, thus facilitating navigation without having to log in again. This functionality can be disabled if the user clicks the “Log out” option, which deletes this cookie, and the next time they visit the website they will need to log in again to be identified.
- To verify whether the user is authorised to access certain services, for example, to participate in a competition.
- Additionally, some services may use third-party connectors such as Facebook, Twitter or Google. When the user registers for a service using credentials from a social network or third-party identification system, they authorise it to store a persistent cookie that remembers their identity and guarantees access to the website until it expires. The user can delete this cookie and revoke access to the website via social networks or third-party identification systems by updating their preferences on the specific social network.
Analytics cookies: each time a user visits a website or service, a tool from an external provider (Google Analytics, comScore and similar) generates an analytics cookie on the user’s device. This cookie, which is only generated on the visit, will be used on future visits to Mining Sense Global services to anonymously identify the visitor. The main objectives pursued are:
- To allow the anonymous identification of browsing users through the “Cookie” (identifying browsers and devices, not persons) and therefore the approximate count of the number of visitors and their trend over time.
- To anonymously identify the most visited and therefore most appealing content for users.
- To determine whether the user accessing the site is new or a returning visitor.
Important: Unless the user chooses to register on a Mining Sense Global website, the cookie will never be associated with any personal data that could identify them. These cookies will only be used for statistical purposes that help optimise the user experience on the site.
More information on the privacy policy of these analytics tools can be found at: Google Analytics and Comscore.
Advertising cookies: this type of cookie allows the information displayed in advertisements to each anonymous user on Mining Sense Global websites to be expanded. Among other things, the duration or frequency of display of advertising positions, interaction with them, or the browsing patterns and/or behaviour of the user are stored, as they help to build an advertising interest profile. In this way, they allow advertising to be offered in line with the user’s interests.
For the management of Mining Sense Global advertising, third-party advertising service tools (Adservers) are used. These third parties may store cookies sent from Mining Sense Global websites originating from users’ browsers, as well as access the data stored in them.
The companies that generate these cookies have their own privacy policies.
Currently, Mining Sense Global uses Google’s Doubleclick platform to manage these services. For more information, please refer to Google’s privacy policy.
